71st Annual Golden Globe Awards top fashion trends

  • Sol Rivero

The first of the most popular ceremonies of the Awards Season was hosted yesterday: the Golden Globe Awards! Check out the top fashion trends we spotted at the Red Carpet!

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards’ trend #5: Embroidery, lace and cut-outs

Many celebrities played with the sheer factor, showing off their legs in surprising cut-outs, like Emma Watson’s unique back gap; or Emilia Clarke’s, Elisabeth Moss’ and Amber Heard’s more conventional –and bold!- front cut-outs.

Others opted for a more romantic look, like the gorgeous black lace gown worn by Cate Blanchett, or Lily Rabe’s beautiful dress with impressive black embroidery.

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards’ trend #4: Heavy eye-shadow

We had some red statement lipstick, like the dark shade worn by Jennifer Lawrence and Taylor Swift’s signature red; but what really stood out in the Golden Globe Awards’ Red Carpet was the dark eye-makeup combined with coral or soft pink lips. It was all about natural looking makeup and statement eyes, proving that the old makeup rule of highlighting just one part of your face is still standing!

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards’ trend #3: Art deco details

From gowns with Art Deco collars on top of jewel necklines, like Elsa Pataky’s and Lizzy Caplan’s gown; to the Art Deco jewelry, like Elisabeth Moss’ and Uma Thurman’s geometric-shaped drop earrings, or the sparkling circular earrings of Cate Blanchett and Ariel Winter.

Some other vintage accessories graced the red carpet, like Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ beautiful old-style bracelet, Naomi Watts’ golden chain collar, or Zooey Deschanel’s floral earrings with pearls.

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards’ trend #2: Green jewelry

Besides metallic jewelry and crystals, the favorite accessories of the night came in emerald green tones, perhaps as a remnant of last year’s official color. Kyra Sedwick, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Helen Mirren and the gorgeous Jennifer Lawrence, were amongst the celebrities which added the beautiful color to their outfits with beautiful green drop earrings.

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards’ trend #1: Golden, black and red

The Golden Globe Awards’ were full of lovely black dresses, like Cate Blanchett’s gorgeous gown, or Jessica Chastain’s and Emma Roberts’ beautiful mermaid dresses. We also saw a lot of red, from Amy Adams bold ensemble, to Lupita Nyong’o’s unique dress.

Some black combinations also graced the red carpet, like Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s, Hayden Panettiere’s and Julia Roberts’s black and white dresses; Taylor Swift’s black and pink gown, or Sandra Bullock’s surprising pink, black and blue ensemble.

Another favorite were the golden details, such as the embroidery on Julianna Margulies’ and Michelle Dockery’s dresses, and the golden top of Emma Thompson’s gown.
