Milan Fashion Week F/W 2014/2015 – Trends

  • Sol Rivero

The Italian runways were full of big names: Armani, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana…and many more! Check out the fashion trends for the F/W 2014/2015 season, according to the Milan Fashion Week.

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2014/2015 – Trend #5: Wraps

Large coats and wraps were some of the main items seen at the catwalks of the Milan Fashion Week. The Fall/Winter 2014/2015 season will be full of oversized, knitted wraps with plaid or floral designs, gorgeous embroidery and unique applications. Wrap dresses, coats and shirts were also present at many of the collections.

Not your cup of tea? A great alternative trend is that of the large leather coats, or oversized knitted vests and patched coats.

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2014/2015 – Trend #4: Sparkly layers

The layered look is a Fall/Winter fashion must! The shirt-vest-coat combo is a favorite, but one of the trends we’ve loved is the inclusion of sparkly layers to spice things up. The Milan Fashion Week presented coats, jackets, tops, pants, skirts and more in shiny hues: golden, silver, rose-gold, green, blue, red…and even an array of outfits with a rainbow combination.

Metallic and colorful tones are still present, either in beautiful embroidery or gorgeous accessories. Some of the other trends are studs, shiny satin outfits and sparkly shoes.

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2014/2015 – Trend #3: Statement boots and accessories

Knee-high boots are very popular during the Fall/Winter season, but Italy gave it its own spin with gorgeous shoes with graphics and colorful shades, a trend we’ve also seen in complements such as handbags, scarves, drop earrings and even glasses; some of them inspired by elements of pop culture.

Metallic jewelry was still present at the Milan Fashion Week, with large statement rings, opera-length pendants, large bracelets and layered belts with multiple chains.

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2014/2015 – Trend #2: Art Deco

Amongst an array of floral prints, plaid and tapestry designs, the Art Deco trend we’ve been seeing during the past runways managed to still be present at the Milan Fashion Week. The sharp lines and geometric prints of the Art Deco trend found a way to appear in gorgeous sheer dresses and unique shoes for the Fall/Winter season.

Want something a little bolder? The fierce look of the animal prints, and the punk-inspired plaid prints are still popular for spicing up the cold months.

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2014/2015 – Trend #1: Artsy gowns

Remember the artsy trend from the London Fashion Week? It’s back! The Milan Fashion Week was full of gowns with designs inspired by contemporary and classic art: painted landscapes, pictures of sculptures and abstract art, were amongst the favorite prints and patterns for the Fall/Winter 2014/2015 collections.

The Pop-Art trend was also back, this time with full ensembles based on popular brands, or more delicate incorporations, such as magazine cut-outs, or patterns of kitties and dogs, clearly appealing to the Internet generation.
