What did you think about yesterday’s 86th Academy Awards? Did your favorites won? Well, even if they didn’t, you can take comfort reading all about the top fashion trends we saw at the Red Carpet. Check them out, and make sure you add them to your closet!

86th Academy Awards trend #4: Slick hair

Big and complicated hairstyles were absent from the Academy Awards’ Red Carpet this year. Instead, the main beauty trend was simple, slicked down hair parted to the sideways, sometimes collected in a messy bun. Angelina Jolie, Laura Dern and Idina Menzel were amongst the celebrities wearing the trend.

The laidback look was perfectly complemented with a very natural makeup: nude or coral lipstick tones as well as statement eye-shadow were the favorites; while others such as Emma Watson, Lupita Nyong’o and Kerry Washington wore red and purple statement hues.

86th Academy Awards trend #3: Metallic jewelry

Metallic jewelry was everywhere at the Academy Awards!  Gorgeous and shiny chokers were one of the favorites: Margot Robbie and Kristen Bell sported the trend, and even Idina Menzel’s and Naomie Watts gave it a spin with large silver necklaces. Glistening studs and floral or Art Deco drop earrings were also a Red Carpet preferred, as shown by Sarah Paulson, Julia Roberts and the gorgeous Cate Blanchett.

Wide, sparkly cuff bracelets and dome rings were also amongst the favorites, as well as V-shaped pendants, and even a few gorgeous metallic brooches.

86th Academy Awards trend #2: Embroidery and lace

Sheerness was in for the Academy Awards, and both designers and stylists complemented it perfectly with gorgeous full embroidery and details in lace. Elsa Pataky, Bette Midler, Portia de Rossi and Julia Roberts were amongst the celebrities which sported beautiful embellished outfits.

When it comes to shapes, we saw a little bit of everything, from long sleeved gowns to jewel necklines, as well as incredibly risky plunging cleavages and strapless dresses.

86th Academy Awards trend #1: Pale and metallic hues

Gorgeous dresses in white and bone were the main fashion trend at the 86th Academy Awards, and even guys got into the trend with beautiful white jackets. Naomi Watts, Callista Flockhart and Kristen Bell were amongst the celebrities wearing beautiful pale shades. Others opted for something a little more eye-catching, wearing impressive gowns with full or partial golden or silver embellishment: Cate Blanchett, Kristin Chenoweth and Jessica Biel used the trend with style.

We could also see a lot of blue, red and green. Liza Minnelli, Amy Adams and even Lupita Nyong’o opted for outfits in different shades of blue, while Bette Midler, Kelly Ripa and Jennifer Lawrence sported bright hues of red, and celebrities such as Idina Menzel, June Squibb and Viola Davis looked stunning in green.
