Not everyone gets to enjoy the new season, since the blossoming flowers from spring also produce a lot of pollen and dust which can affect your body. If your eyes and nose feel stuffy and you’re constantly sneezing during outdoor activities, then the seasonal changes might be disturbing your body. To help you out, here are some useful tips on how to treat spring allergies by making a few tweaks in your routine.

How to treat spring allergies: Medication and natural remedies

The first step for getting rid of spring allergies is to prevent them. Consult with your doctor for some antihistamines you can use to help you with the nasty effects of your allergies, and start getting them early on. Also, check out the daily pollen count so you can avoid going out when it’s too high. The amount of pollen and dust seems to decrease during the afternoon, so try to schedule outdoor activities then. If you must go out when the pollen count is high, then opt for wearing a mask so you can reduce the side effects.

One of the most recommended natural remedies for treating spring allergies is a saline solution. You can look for a saline spray or try a neti pot at home so you can cleanse your nasal cavity and get rid of the pollen and mucus. The steam of hot water might also be helpful to get rid of the symptoms, so a hot shower or breathing the vapor or boiling water can be an easy and quick solution. However, keep in mind that this won’t eliminate your allergies, so medication might still be needed.

It’s also recommended to consume spicy foods during the season, since it acts as a temporary decongestant. It’s also essential to keep a very healthy diet rich in nutrients, since this will boost up your immune system and help your body fight the nasty effects of the allergens.

How to treat spring allergies at your workplace and home

Once you’ve taken care of your body, then it’s time to pay attention to your environment. Although allergies’ worst side effects might develop when you’re outdoors, closed places are also vulnerable of being filled with dust and pollen. At home and at your workplace, keep your windows shut and incorporate filters into your ventilation systems. Filters will trap allergens and keep your surroundings clean of elements which can trigger your allergic reactions.

To keep your indoors unpolluted, give them consistent spring cleanings by dusting and vacuuming the place regularly. If you’re allergic to mold and mildew, you should also get dehumidifiers and check out your home and workplace frequently for any sign of their presence.
