We know many of you are not into sports, and as the football madness takes over the world, you might be wondering how to avoid it entirely and keep yourself entertained elsewhere. That’s why today we’ve compiled a few ideas of things to do during the World Cup if you’re not a football fan.

Have fun!

Thing to do during the World Cup if you’re not a football fan #4: Go to a food festival

It seems like 2014 is a big year for food fans, or for people who are simply looking to expand their culinary knowledge. If you live in the United States and you’re thinking of avoiding the World Cup entirely, then you might want to give a try to one of the many food festivals that will be hosted in places like Florida or Chicago, where you’ll be able to experience exclusive local and foreign dishes.

There will also be plenty of music festivals available to celebrate the sunny months, so, if you prefer a good concert, then put on your summer clothes and enjoy!

Thing to do during the World Cup if you’re not a football fan #3: Catch up on your favorite shows

Summer is about to arrive! If you’re not traveling and you’re about to spend a lot of time on your home, then why not catching up on your favorite TV shows and movies? Since the World Cup is a topic that will everywhere, consider using a streaming service or simply buying the DVD’s with the full seasons and simply binge-watch.

It’s also the time of the year when most blockbusters are released, and there might be one or two film festivals near you, so make sure you check them out.

Thing to do during the World Cup if you’re not a football fan #2: Watch a Shakespeare play

This year the entire world will be celebrating a wonderful theater event: Shakespeare’s 450th birthday. TV Channels will be playing great documentaries and films based on his life and plays, and most theater companies will be putting on a play or two, or creating interesting tributes. If you enjoy theater, then what better way of forgetting the World Cup than by supporting your local artists as well as enjoying the work of one of the most renowned play writers of the world?

June is also the African-American Music Appreciation Month in the United States, so there will definitely be some great concerts in every city to celebrate this event.

Thing to do during the World Cup if you’re not a football fan #1:  Volunteer

Want to do something useful during your summer days while also avoiding the whole World Cup insanity? Then you might want to consider volunteering for a local shelter or organization. Now that the warm months have arrived and most people are either distracted with their vacations or with sports events, many might forget about the people, animals or natural elements which are in peril.

Lend a helping hand to a cause that inspires you, and make yourself useful during the football season.
