The New Year has begun! And, what better way to start January than learning more about the color that we’ll be seeing everywhere? From fashion to decoration and graphic design, this is the trendiest shade you should definitely add to your life this year.

Here’s what you need to know about Pantone’s color of the year 2015! Check it out!

Pantone’s color of the year 2015: Marsala

2014 was the year of pastels, with the energetic Radiant Orchid as the main shade. However, 2015 starts with a more solemn and seductive tone: Marsala. This dim yet rich color is an earthy hue derived from a dark red wine.

According to Pantone, the choice of Marsala as the color of the year comes from the Spring 2015 runways, as seen in collections from Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Max Azria. The company selected this shade for its versatility, stating that it’s “equally appealing to men and women”, and just as flattering to both genders and all skin tones.

Pantone recommends combining this shade with warm colors, from warm neutrals to earthy hues, such as grays and browns; or more vibrant shades like teal or coral. On the other hand, designers have opted for incorporating glossy versions of the tone in their collections, from shoes to full bodycon dresses.
