Continuing our coverage of the top fashion trends seen at the Red Carpet of some of the most important events from the Awards Season, we take a look at the outfits worn by celebrities at the Screen Actors Guild Awards!
SAG Awards 2014 – Red Carpet fashion trend #5: Strapless and jewel necklines
In this year’s SAG Awards, celebrities dropped the sheer trend for a more traditional version, with plunging necklines and a lot of cleavage. Many of the outfits were completely strapless, such as Sofía Vergara’s metallic dress, Sarah Hyland’s simplistic pale gown, or Julie Bowen’s bold ensemble. Other opted for a more demure version, showing off their toned arms with jewel necklines, like Cate Blanchett, Holly Hunter or Anna Gunn.
Another popular dress shape making a return was the one-shoulder gown. Anna Chlumsky, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Emilia Clarke were amongst the celebrities which opted for this playful dresses.
SAG Awards 2014 – Red Carpet fashion trend #4: Ruffles, appliqués and prints
It was all about volume at Saturday’s SAG Awards. From large floral appliqués, like the ones on Lupita Nyong’o’s and Hannah Simone’s dresses, to Sarah Paulson’s adorable ruffled gown, it was one of the main trends of the night. Another option was the voluminous and colorful prints, from Juliette Lewis’ floral gown to Amanda Peet and Ariel Winter’s colorful dresses.
SAG Awards 2014 – Red Carpet fashion trend #3: Embellished
Continuing with the embellished trend we’ve been seeing at the previous Awards ceremonies, celebrities strutted down the Red Carpet with fully sequined gowns in incredible patterns. From Malin Akerman’s tribal gown, to Jennifer Lawrence’s sequined dress, it was a night for a little extra shine. Others who included the trend with a little more modesty were Maria Menounos, Rita Wilson and Katrila Jorgensen, sporting beautiful partially embellished dresses.
SAG Awards 2014 – Red Carpet fashion trend #2: Large drop earrings
For accessories, celebrities at the Screen Actors Guild Awards opted for large drop earrings with colorful gemstones in geometric shapes. Jennifer Lawrence and Anna Gunn complemented their outfits with blue drop earrings, while Mariah Carey opted for gorgeous floral drop earrings. Youthful metallic necklaces, cuff bracelets and stud earrings were also amongst the favorite of the night.
SAG Awards 2014 – Red Carpet fashion trend #1: Blue, metallic tones
The SAG Awards’ Red Carpet had a few splashes of bold colors: pretty pinks, pastels and more. However, the favorite shade of the night was blue! From Lupita Nyong’o’s aquamarine gown, to Amy Adams’ gorgeous navy blue dress, Oprah Winfrey’s, Kathy Griffin’s and Jennifer Garner’s, amongst many others.
Following the embellished trend, we also saw many gowns in metallic tones: Sandra Bullock’s metallic green dress, Emilia Clarke’s one-shoulder metallic gown, or Sofía Vergara’s gorgeous ensemble.
